Mirror of the Bay

Mixed media - Charcoal, acrylic and oil

Framed in black frame 750 mm x 885 mm

Mirror of the Bay reflects the quiet power of place in shaping our sense of identity. This work is a meditation on the landscapes that leave a lasting imprint—those we return to in thought, in dreams, and in moments of stillness.

Inspired by the natural beauty of Banks Peninsula, the painting draws on memory and emotion, where land and water blur and reflect one another, echoing the internal landscapes we each carry.

Colour, texture, and line are used to express both the seen and the felt—inviting the viewer to experience a sense of familiarity and resonance, even if the place is unknown to them.

The mirrored bays suggest the way our environment shapes who we are, holding space for contemplation, connection, and belonging. It is a visual poem that honours the interplay between outer geography and inner terrain—between the world around us and the one within.
